Expect the Unexpected I love it when I discover another hidden gem in Los Angeles, such as Fosselman's ice cream in Alhambra. I just got back from Little Pedro's, a small restaurant/bar/venue in downtown L.A., where I got to listen to some really good blues. Miss Mickey Champion has been performing every Tuesday, which is also a special night because Little Pedro's serves FREE fried chicken and cornbread after 11pm. So you get to listen to good music AND get free grub. How great is that? Don't say anything...that was rhetorical. Anyway, if you're in town on a Tuesday and like blues and want to do something really cheap and low-key, you might want to check this out. How do I describe Miss Mickey Champion? Well, she is quite possibly senile given her age and the fact that she's barely coherent when she's speaking, dances with all the attitude of a burlesque performer, is extremely interactive with the audience, and oh yeah, is one heck of a blues singer.
