The Clock Fell Back.. And I fell forward. I busted up my knee, my shoulder, and my head. It really hurts. Stupid gravity.
Hey! No comments from the peanut gallery! (I can already tell what you're going to say.)
Too Pretty to Eat Dubya brought me back some very pretty chocolates from the Pierre Marcolini boutique in Paris. They were almost too pretty to eat. Note that I said "almost." Mmmmm. My mouth liked them as much as eyes did.
Expect the Unexpected I love it when I discover another hidden gem in Los Angeles, such as Fosselman's ice cream in Alhambra. I just got back from Little Pedro's, a small restaurant/bar/venue in downtown L.A., where I got to listen to some really good blues. Miss Mickey Champion has been performing every Tuesday, which is also a special night because Little Pedro's serves FREE fried chicken and cornbread after 11pm. So you get to listen to good music AND get free grub. How great is that? Don't say anything...that was rhetorical. Anyway, if you're in town on a Tuesday and like blues and want to do something really cheap and low-key, you might want to check this out. How do I describe Miss Mickey Champion? Well, she is quite possibly senile given her age and the fact that she's barely coherent when she's speaking, dances with all the attitude of a burlesque performer, is extremely interactive with the audience, and oh yeah, is one heck of a blues singer. Check out the video at Little Pedro's website by clicking on her name (you'll have to find it on the homepage).
Ice-Fili, Revisited It must be that time of year again, when business school professors assign the Harvard business case on Ice-Fili to their students...and people email me for help. I could tell you to think about distribution channels or brand differentiation or all this other stuff, but if you really want to get an idea of the ice cream market in Russia, my advice on the case is this: Find yourself a Russian friend. Now.
Oh, and me? Not Russian. Just so you know.
Poor Baby While I was driving back from the National Black MBA Association's Annual Conference on Friday, I got hit by a driver who decided to change into my lane...while I was still in it. Luckily, no one was hurt. Just my Passat...my baby. Waaahhh.
That was close Big game today, SC vs. Notre Dame. Watched it with a bunch of Marshall people. Much nailbiting for both sides. Behar asked me to make some calls so that SC wouldn't try to go for a field goal at the very end, resulting in OT, which would have messed up his busy schedule. Because I am so obliging, I did. See what happens when I'm asked to do something? I get it done. Oh, right--before I forget--SC won.
I Almost Forgot.. The new business school rankings from the Wall Street Journal are out. I think this link works. USC Marshall is in the top 10. Boo-yah.
I'm Sorry I've been a very bad blogger.
I'll try to be better. At some point in the future, that is.
Update: Moved back home (no cable, spotty internet access, you get the picture). Very depressed. Still job-less, but still on the hunt. Have learned that when internet access goes down, must follow this protocol: (1) turn off router, (2) turn off modem, (3) wait 10 sec, (4) turn on modem, (5) wait forever for "ACT" light to go on, (6) turn on router, (7) wait 30 sec, and (8) reconnect to network. That's me, always learning something new.
