Random Question: Something That Struck Me and Made Me Wonder As To What the Answer Might Be Is it just me, or have subtitles of books become longer and longer? I've been catching up some of my DVR'ed episodes of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, and I can't help noticing that their guests have books with really long titles to the point where they barely fit on the book cover.
A sampling:
What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception Broken Government: How Republican Rule Destroyed the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches The Great Derangement: A Terrifying True Story of War, Politics, and Religion at the Twilight of the American Empire Right Is Wrong: How the Lunatic Fringe Hijacked America, Shredded the Constitution, and Made Us All Less Safe The Fall of the House of Bush: The Untold Story of How a Band of True Believers Seized the Executive Branch, Started the Iraq War, and Still Imperils America's Future
I mean, look at that last one. Is that verbiage really necessary? Really? Or is it an attempt to save trees by printing the introduction on the book cover? Just wondering.
