The Hunt Continues.. Explorer's Log, July 25, 2005:
For weeks now, I have been hacking my way through this jungle in pursuit of the ever elusive "job." Alas! I have grown weary of this life. As my resources, pecuniary and otherwise, have dwindled, my quality of life has similarly been on the decline. Last night, hunger beset me, and I used celery, peanut butter, and raisins to concoct a culinary mish-mash I call "Frogs on a Log." One of my fellow explorers suggested that I call it "Ants on a Log." Although it hurt me to disagree with the amiable man, I had to tell him, "My good sir, have you gone mad? Have you not eyes? Were this celery stalk a log, the only sort of ant that this raisin could represent (proportionally speaking) would be a mutant giant ant! 'Tis unthinkable! Were the raisins frogs, it would make much more sense. If you must call these raisins 'ants,' then you must call the dish 'Ants on a Branch' or 'Ants on a Twig.' Nay! 'Frogs on a Log' sounds infinitely better (due to the consonance of the first and last words) while making more sense (again, proportionally speaking). Ergo, 'Frogs on a Log' is more appropriate."
I say, my thoughts seem to have taken a surprising turn. Let us go back to the subject that is at the forefront of my mind. The jobs. Yes, they are sneaky, elusive creatures, indeed. They are all unique, and they are abundant. However, some varieties are deadly and can suck the life out of a man. One must be careful, for they have the ability to confound. For example, jobs have "requirements," in which some claim to need "5-10 years of experience" or "a Master's degree," whilst perusals of "job descriptions" would suggest that any person with an ounce of common sense and organization would do. Oh, 'tis difficult to discern which ones to target. I have tried many things to lure these jobs...talking to colleagues, introducing myself to people at various companies, uploading resumes to company websites, uploading resumes to job sites. I admit that I do suffer from bouts of despondency during which I fear that all my efforts are in vain. But I must not give up hope. I must sally forth!
