Welcome to the Jungle P$ took me to my first baseball game ever yesterday. It was awesome! In addition to seeing the game, we got the added bonus of seeing the Olympic torch stop by. Tom Cruise entered Dodger Stadium first, handed it off to Janet Evans, who handed it off to Vitali Klitschko, who then handed it off to Rafer Johnson. It was cool. Klitschko doesn't look as mean in person as he does on the billboards promoting his fights (although he does look physically formidable), and Tom Cruise looks like a midget standing next to him.
In terms of the game itself, I had my first Dodger Dog, was introduced to the ritual "seventh inning stretch," participated in my first wave, saw someone get kicked out, and was witness to unusually good heckling. One major highlight was seeing Eric Gagne pitch: as he walked out onto the field with "Welcome to the Jungle" blaring from the loudspeakers, this surge of energy and excitement just overcame the crowd. People were just going nuts! My understanding of the game is minimal, but even a novice like me could tell that Gagne is extremely good at what he does. All in all, a very memorable evening.
Today, I spent the day hard at work. Well, not really. More like spent the day doing nothing. I went to Borders and bought a book, walked to Corner Bakery for a breakfast sandwich, sat in their outdoor dining area eating and reading, and then drove to a local park, where I lay in the shade of a big tree, alternating between napping, reading, and daydreaming. I know, it's a difficult life I lead. Not everyone can handle such a peaceful existence. Not only can I handle it, but I excel at it.
