Preparing for Stanford Weekend I had dinner with Shimi, Chang-er, Nishant, TJ, and Hollywood at a nice Mexican restaurant where I ingested way more cheese than usual. Sar joined us after dinner, and all of us headed to a bowling alley where we "practiced" for the bowling competition at Stanford weekend, which starts this upcoming Friday. Sar and I decided to head down memory lane by purchasing some "jewelry" from the 25-cent vending machines at the bowling alley. Sar got a charm which we think is supposed to be a little dog, and I got a "glow stick" necklace, which will definitely come in handy the next time I decide to go clubbing on "Asian Night," because you know how my people like to "rave" and wave glow sticks about. I can't explain the fascination...that's just the way it is.
After telling everyone how sucky I was, lo and behold, I got a strike on my very first try. But no worries, it all went downhill from there. Considering that 40 is a good score for me, I did very well, scoring a 86, 74, and 91. Shimi was on fire in the beginning, but his performance tapered off as the night progressed, and that is when Hollywood just started kicking butt. He got three strikes in a row, which according to the TV screen, is a "turkey" (?), and ended the night with a 189 or something like that. Chang did awesome impression of Bill Murray in the cinematic masterpiece Kingpin, which TJ insisted that we watch for inspiration before bowling on Friday. Eighties music was blaring during the entire time we were bowling, and Chang graced us with many a performance, including a rendition of "Don't You Want Me, Baby," the song he didn't get to perform at Marshall Idol. There was one song that he made his very own, but I can't tell you what it is, because we are all hoping that he will perform it next year at Marshall Idol. It'll be a surprise...
